WIND BOUNDARY

This project is about the wind energy at different intensities is recorded and transformed into a corresponding sound waveform in real time, and then the randomly generated images are used for virtualized expression. The invisible wind is reproduced by technological means, and the images are re-integrated into the environment where it exists, showing a poetic expression of the relationship between human activities and nature, either in opposition or in balance.

BACKGROUND
The urban heat island effect refers to the "warming" of a city due to a large amount of artificial heat, high heat storage in buildings and roads, and a reduction in green space. The dense and tall buildings in the city obstruct the airflow and reduce the wind speed in the city. Due to the urban heat island effect, the city and the suburbs form a heat circulation that is the same day and night.

The television shows the wind at the moment, but the wind is trapped in a warm "island", forming an invisible barrier. This work hopes to show the impact of the heat island effect in such a way, but also to warn the cities in the heat island how to deal with the urban planning problem.
This device was originally intended to test the wind speed changes due to urbanized building facilities, but later found that this single test data was too straightforward and monolithic, I plan to use a mechanized and digital presentation to express it.

INSTALLATION

Arduino internal program is written in C++ and burned, affected by the wind speed, the wind sensor will change its own resistance size, thus affecting the value of the electrical signal of the Arduino port.
This fluctuating electrical signal value is finally converted to Digital to Analog and output by the Midi board.
The upper part of the device is a fan that can rotate according to the wind speed, and the lower part is a box composed of two wooden boards and four acrylic boards, with a Midi board and an Arduino board inside to transmit data.
